How to participate in the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children 2025

How can we honor the children who died from abortion, and not only remember them, but actually make a difference?

Next Saturday, September 13 is the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children. In years past, this remembrance event took place at 210 locations throughout the US with thousands in attendance, and hopefully it will be even bigger this Saturday. Let’s turn our grief over to the Lord in prayer, uniting in repentance against the evil of abortion, remembering the lives lost.

How to participate in the National Day of Remembrance

You can find memorials, gravesites, and remembrance services for aborted children in your area at National Day of Remembrance. If there aren’t any services scheduled in your area, you can volunteer to host one if you feel led.

As always, if you aren’t able to attend a memorial service in person, turning to the Lord in prayer is the best way to honor those precious souls—to repent for the evil of abortion in our land, and to cry out for God to bring an end to this bloodshed.

Visiting a memorial for aborted children

I was able to visit 2 of the 3 memorial sites in my area, and I wanted to share some photos of those with you.

Lady of Guadalupe memorial to aborted children

The first memorial location I visited is at a local cemetery. It is technically a Catholic shrine called “Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Memorial to the Aborted.”

While I differ with many Catholic beliefs, one thing I agree with is the abomination of abortion.

Memorial for children killed by abortion

There were a couple more plaques on the ground that encourage people to offer prayers, especially for the healing of the parents who lost their children to abortion and continue to grieve for them.

Plaque to pray for parents of the aborted

The second plaque asks that we pray for those pre-born babies who were killed, but since I don’t believe in the Catholic teaching that the living can pray for the dead, I instead offered a different prayer.

I prayed thanking the Lord for these children’s dears lives, even though they were cut so incredibly short, because we know they were created in His image and with a good purpose, and we know that they have returned to Him.

Plaque to pray for the unborn aborted

And just an aside, to make things clear, I did not pray at a shrine. I appreciated the memorial, then turned to the Father who alone hears our prayers.

No recitations over beads, nor lighting of candles, nor praying to saints or to Mary can make a way to the throne of God—only through the Lord Jesus can we come to Him. And thank God, we can come to Him anywhere!

It’s like I texted my sister:

“For the first time in my life I went to a Catholic shrine and prayed, BUT I did NOT however pray to the lady of Guadalupe; rather I thanked the Lord that we can come directly to His throne through our mediator, Christ Jesus.”

My husband came with me to this memorial site, and when I got back in the car we prayed together. We prayed that God would come swiftly to bring justice for these babies who are being murdered and that He would bring an end to this evil.

We asked that God would open the eyes of those who commit such vile acts, that they would repent and turn to Him, and that all people’s eyes would be open to the horrors of abortion so that they would stand against it.

We also asked that the Lord would comfort and heal those parents who now regret killing their babies, and we lifted a special prayer for healing for those fathers who wanted their children to live, but had no voice.

I hope you’ll join us in agreement with these prayers!

It was very touching to see a memorial dedicated to these precious ones endangered by abortion who so desperately need our prayers that righteous laws would be enacted, hearts would be changed, and lives would be saved.

I wish more Christian cemeteries and churches would have memorials dedicated to these precious souls lost in such a violent way, for we cannot change what we refuse to acknowledge.

I said we cannot change what we refuse to acknowledge, and the body of Christ desperately needs to speak out against the evil of abortion, and to speak up in prayer.

Visiting the grave of abortion victim baby Miranda

The second memorial location I visited was at a nearby church—it was moving to see a memorial like this at a church!

Grave and memorial of aborted baby

I was so pleased to see these dear souls and their plight that no baby should ever experience being recognized, especially by the body of Christ.

Abortion memorial for the innocent

It was a bit tricky to locate the memorial as it was tucked away inside a garden area.

Here’s the inscription on the memorial in case you can’t read it:

IN MEMORY OF THE INNOCENT

We, the people of Christian Chapel, erect this memorial in memory of the thirty million* innocent victims of abortion. These children suffered from no illness, they were not casualties in some tragic accident, rather they are the innocent victims of an immoral law which gives their mothers the right to have them put to death.

They never saw the light of day. They never knew the tender touch of their mother’s hand. They never heard their mother’s voice lifted softly in either lullaby or prayer. They never felt the warmth of the sun on their face or knew the joyous freedom of the first barefoot day of spring. For them death came before birth.

May this memorial become a healing place for those mothers who are haunted by their fatal choice. May they experience here the healing work of grief which denial has long deprived them. And may they receive the grace and forgiveness of the Lord Jesus Christ which makes all things new.

By this memorial we hope to challenge the conscience of the American people and their elected representatives. May they be moved to exercise their solemn duty and may they enact laws which will protect human life from the moment of conception until natural death.

May all who visit here join God in His great grief for these little ones.

*My note: The number of abortions has more than doubled since the memorial was erected.

What a touching tribute and prayer. ❤️‍🩹

And this location was not just a memorial but an actual gravesite of an aborted baby.

I carefully stepped closer into the garden area to be able to read the memorial plaque, and I’m so glad I did because that is where my husband and I found this little headstone.

Grave of abortion victim Miranda

Dear little Miranda. She would have been 35 years old this year if she’d been allowed to live.

“An innocent victim of abortion, for her death came before her birth.”

Wow! Such a sorrowful truth put so poignantly.

Just think, how heart-wrenching to look at this gravestone and realize that there is only one date recorded—the date of her death, for she was never allowed to be born!

Why the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children is important

It’s times like this when it’s hard to look upon such tragedy. It’s not easy to do. It’s not comfortable. But the Lord has called us to “remember those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies.” (Hebrews 13:3b, NLT)

When we remember this, how can we not fight for these little ones who are made in the image of God just as we are? How can we not cry out to the Lord for His mighty hand to move on their behalf?

Lest we become too weary, let’s also remember God’s wonderful promise to make all things right in His time. Remember what John saw, the New Jerusalem coming down from heaven:

And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Revelation 21:3-4, NKJV

What a wonderful hope, a PROMISE to cling to and look forward to! God makes all things right in His time, but He is long-suffering, wanting everyone to be saved, waiting for as many who will come to Him to do so.

So while we pray for an end to the horror that is abortion, let us use our voices to speak out against it, to be a voice for those little ones who have no voice.

Share the truth with friends, on social media, and even with fellow believers who may be misled by the deluge of misinformation that constantly swirls around abortion. Because God calls us to stand firm for righteousness, to call out evil, and to speak up for those in need:

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.

Proverbs 31:8, NLT

What conviction! Just think, victims of abortion are literally being crushed and ripped to death—here is a clear command for us to speak on their behalf!

And just see how seriously God will deal with our apathy:

Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die; save them as they stagger to their death.

Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.” For God understands all hearts, and he sees you.

He who guards your soul knows you knew. He will repay all people as their actions deserve.

Proverbs 24:11-12, NLT

Final thoughts on the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children

Thank you for taking this time to remember these precious children created in God’s image who weren’t allowed to live long enough to even be born. Thank you for mourning with me, for agreeing with me in prayer.

We need repentance in our land. ❤️‍🩹

We need revival. ❤️‍🔥

Let us keep praying for an end to abortion, and to remember the value of the precious lives at stake that are created in God’s image just as we are.

May God break our hearts over this grievous sin as it breaks His!
